Assistant Athletic Director, Fan Engagement of Sports Marketing and Promotions- Athletics

The Assistant Athletic Director for Fan Engagement, Sports Marketing and Promotions will work directly with the Deputy Director of Athletics for External Affairs to develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to drive revenue and attendance for Hampton Pirates Athletics. This position will leverage traditional and digital marketing and advertising tactics including email campaigns, paid media, lead generation, and community outreach to grow the Hampton Pirates fan base in the Hampton Roads area. This role will be work closely with other external units to accomplish department goals of increasing ticket sales, fundraising, and sponsorship revenue.
Job Duties:
Lead development and execution of marketing plans to drive revenue and attendance for home events for Hampton Pirates varsity sports
Create comprehensive advertising and marketing strategies to drive ticket revenue for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball
Oversee all in-game elements for home events with leadership on football games; writing scripts and timelines to coordinate promotions, presentations, videoboard, music, entertainment, etc.
Assist in the recruiting, training and scheduling of graduate assistants and undergraduate marketing staff.
Leverage traditional advertising with digital and social media marketing campaigns (website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
Work with ticket sales and service staff to create email marketing strategy
Collaborate with sponsorship staff to create valuable inventory and ensure activations are executed and tracked appropriately
Serve as the primary contact for community outreach requests (mascot appearances, donation requests, etc.)

Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or sports management
4+ years of previous relevant experience in marketing, ticket sales, and/or Fan Experience
Extensive functional knowledge of marketing
Experience collaborating with coaches and serving student athletes.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Presentation, planning and project management skills.
A knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with a history of compliance
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
Experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, focus on Photoshop and Premiere
Experience leading and supervising the work of junior staff and interns.
A demonstrated commitment to innovation and creativity
Skills to think critically of new ideas that can support strategic plan development and execution.
