POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant AD for Sports Performance is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes across multiple NCAA sports. This position supports the development of athletic performance, injury prevention, and overall health and wellness, while ensuring programs are in compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance will oversee all aspects for the strength and conditioning program for the athletic department. Responsibilities will be as follows:
- Design and implement year-round, sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for teams;
- Conduct individual and team workouts that focus on strength, speed, agility, flexibility, conditioning, and injury prevention;
- Collaborate with athletic trainers, team physicians, and coaching staff to ensure safe and effective programming;
- Monitor and document student-athlete progress through testing, evaluations, and data tracking;
- Educate student-athletes on proper lifting techniques, nutrition basics, recovery strategies, and mental discipline;
- Maintain a safe and professional training environment;
- Stay current with industry trends, certifications, and NCAA regulations;
- Assist with facility upkeep, equipment maintenance, and inventory management
- Participate in professional development and continuing education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field;
- Minimum 1–3 years of collegiate, high school or professional strength and conditioning experience
CERTIFICATIONS:
- National certification (CSCS – Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by NSCA, or SCCC – Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified by CSCCa);
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- A demonstrated knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a collegiate athletic department;
- A proven record in following directives and being responsible for tasks which have been assigned.
REPORTS TO: Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: Student-workers.
