Requirements/Skills/Abilities:
Bachelor's degree is required, but a Master's degree is preferred. Needs to have a general knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
Coaching experience required, and a minimum of two years working in a campus or athletic environment.
Responsible to monitor the physical, emotional and social welfare of their student-athletes and to ensure the establishment of a safe environment while at the University.
Ability to handle highly confidential material. All information must be kept in strict confidence and should not be discussed anywhere other than in the appropriate professional setting. Maintain a commitment to integrity.
Make public appearances on behalf of the University as well as create substantial support for program through ambitious marketing and community service efforts.
Exemplary customer skills, including dealing effectively with the students, coaching staff, faculty, staff, external constituents, and general public both in person and over the telephone. Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers and possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Demonstrates understanding and sensitivity to the needs of all prospective as well as current students.
Good organizational, oral and recruiting skills are needed.
Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to work effectively, decisively and flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and judgment in dealing with sensitive issues.
Anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise and advise the Head Coach and Athletic Director accordingly.
Must have the ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Displays good long-range planning skills for the future development of the program.
Possess knowledge of athletic recruitment methods and techniques.
Must have the ability to lead and guide student-athletes in area of specialty.
Ability to accept supervision, assignments, change, and correction.
Carry out all responsibilities and objectives in a professional manner.
Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers.
Accept and render constructive criticism in a professional manner.
Demonstrate a solid knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes and skill in budget preparation and management. Must possess the ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures and have knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the specified sports program.
