POSITION SUMMARY
ONU Softball is looking for an Assistant Coach with prior experience of the following: Collegiate level playingexperience,recruitingexperience,leadershipexperience,coachingexperience(Lessons, camps, etc). The main role of the Assistant Coach is to assist the Head Coach and other coaches in tasks such as: Recruiting, Practice planning, Season planning, being present to the players, etc. We are looking for an Assistant Coach with passion and love for the game, as well as knowledge of the game.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruiting
  1. Available during the whole year(including summer) to recruit at local tournaments and search for the best talent.
  2. Present at camps and visits.
  3. Constant Communication/Navigating Recruit Sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruiting

1. Assisting in practice planning.
2. Assisting in planning for games (Home and Away).
3. Assisting in planning trips and other events.

• Coaching

  1. Being able to communicate feedback and display a high IQ of the game.
  2. Being able to be physically engaged in a practice.
  3. Game Responsibilities: Charting, notetaking, feedback, etc.
  4. Passionate and being present for the girls.

• Hours

  1. Depending on time of season.
  2. Come into office Monday-Friday.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

1. A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant.

2. Organization and Time Management

   1. Equipment, jerseys, and gear.

3. Email and Computer Skills

   1. Excel, Canva, Word.
   2. Responsive emails for recruits, players, and other personnel of ONU.

4. IQ and Ability

   1. IQ of the game and all positions including hitting.
   2. Ability to be physically engaged in a practice.
   3. Help create creative practice plans and workouts.

5. Passion and Communicative

   1. Effectivelyandconsistentlycommunicatefeedbacktoallplayersthroughoutthewhole practice and game.
   2. Be present for the players.

Additional Information

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Help supervise the student athletes on Olivet Nazarene University Softball.

EDUCATION

A bachelor's degree with collegiate playing experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Assistant Coach’s work environment includes many conditions: Office, cold days, hot days, all weather.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

The starting salary for this position is $15/hour and is based on experience and education.
