JOB SUMMARY : Saginaw Valley State University, a NCAA DII institution and member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, Athletic Facilities & Events. The University’s athletic program fields 20 Division II intercollegiate teams (9 men’s and 11 women’s) and boasts more than 500 student-athletes. Reporting directly to and working with the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities & Events, will assist with the coordination, scheduling and managing all aspects of hosting home athletic events, athletic facility/field maintenance. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day summer camps and laundry/equipment room operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations.
Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance.
Promote and encourage a game day atmosphere of sportsmanship and excellence in customer service when working with fans, opposing team personnel and officials.
Serve as game day administrator for various home athletic competitions, as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Events. Provide support and direction for game day operations personnel. Assist with game day set-ups/tear downs.
Assist with hiring, training, overseeing, and evaluating student employees who are working event staff.
Assist with set-up/tear down and troubleshooting of ticket operations on game day.
Assist with scheduling, planning, and preparing for various home championships, non-championship, post season athletic events, practices, and other sponsored athletic events.
Responsible for the day-to day operation of the laundry/equipment room which serves, in addition to the Athletic Department, The Conference Center and Campus Facilities.
Hire, train, oversee and evaluate student employees who are assigned to the laundry/equipment room.

Order supplies, maintain and coordinate service for all laundry equipment to ensure practice and competition uniforms are clean and maintained.
Responsible for the day-to-day summer camp coordination, including but not limited to planning, scheduling, marketing, and registration.
Review, update, and adhere to all pre and post camp procedures, policies and deadlines outlined in the summer camp manual.
Serve as account manager for all summer camp accounts, monitor on-line registrations, deposit revenues, and reconcile accounts with camp director and accounts payable.
Assist with the creation and approval of marketing materials for camps and clinics.
Schedule and request all campus facilities and conferencing support for summer camps and clinics including custodial, grounds, maintenance set-ups/teardowns, catering, and housing.
Work with HR and verify in ARMS software, when possible, to ensure camp/clinic staff has the required payroll and HR documents before working (e.g. 1st aid/CPR, CDC Head’s up Concussion, payroll, and HR Action forms).
Process all HR Action forms to hire summer camp/clinic staff and process check requisitions to pay camp staff.
Assist the Assistant AD of Facilities & Events with submitting work orders and ordering needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
General supervision is received from the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities & Events.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Functional supervision is exercised over the seasonal game day staff, volunteers, and student employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least one year of related work experience preferably in college athletics, campus or community recreation program, event, or sports management.
Proficient in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite based applications.
Must be able to work flexible hours including sporting and non-sporting events that may occur on weeknights, weekends and possibly holidays. Occasional travel may be required.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
Ability to communicate in a service oriented and collaborative spirit.
Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information, demonstrate the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
Ability to manage multiple events and constituents, while upholding the highest level of communication by way of written and verbal communication.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two or more years of Athletics game day, facilities, and events experience at the NCAA collegiate level.
Ability to work independently.
Outstanding public relations skills.
Previous experience with 25 Live scheduling software, E-Tix ticketing software, Presto, Blue Zebra and Arbiter officiating portals.
Knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the NCAA, as well as other associations and agencies to which Saginaw Valley State University adheres.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Duties are generally performed inside but include outside seasonal activities.
Some weeknights and weekends, including intermittent travel, will be required.
