JOB SUMMARY : Saginaw Valley State University, a NCAA DII institution and member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, Athletic Facilities & Events. The University’s athletic program fields 20 Division II intercollegiate teams (9 men’s and 11 women’s) and boasts more than 500 student-athletes. Reporting directly to and working with the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities & Events, will assist with the coordination, scheduling and managing all aspects of hosting home athletic events, athletic facility/field maintenance. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day summer camps and laundry/equipment room operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations.
  • Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance.
  • Promote and encourage a game day atmosphere of sportsmanship and excellence in customer service when working with fans, opposing team personnel and officials.
  • Serve as game day administrator for various home athletic competitions, as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Events. Provide support and direction for game day operations personnel. Assist with game day set-ups/tear downs.
  • Assist with hiring, training, overseeing, and evaluating student employees who are working event staff.
  • Assist with set-up/tear down and troubleshooting of ticket operations on game day.
  • Assist with scheduling, planning, and preparing for various home championships, non-championship, post season athletic events, practices, and other sponsored athletic events.
  • Responsible for the day-to day operation of the laundry/equipment room which serves, in addition to the Athletic Department, The Conference Center and Campus Facilities.
  • Hire, train, oversee and evaluate student employees who are assigned to the laundry/equipment room.
