The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications will report to the Associate AD for communications and will work with sports as assigned. This person will also oversee all of the department’s social and digital media needs. Other duties include producing game programs, game notes, writing press releases, coordinating interviews and updating the athletics web site.
Essential Functions
Oversee the social media presence of the Drexel Athletics Communications Office and implement plan to increase Drexel Athletics' presence on social media.
Assist each sports team with their social media needs.
Assist the Department with the technical aspects of Drexeldragons.com and take the lead on designing Drexel graphics for various publications.
Act as Sport's primary contact, including media relations, statistical record-keeping, award promotions and all information relative to selected Drexel teams.
Travel with teams and create and distribute press releases covering noteworthy accomplishments of student athletes, coaches, and athletic personnel.
Facilitate press conferences and interviews when appropriate.
Update biographies and relevant information on Drexeldragons.com.
Act as one of Drexel Athletics’ editors, including proofreading game programs, Department manuals and reports.
Handle media relations needs and assist with operations for CAA postseason events hosted by Drexel, such as postseason CAA Championships.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications or a relevant field or Equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in creative content and/or communications field.
Knowledge and experience working with web and video editing, Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop), graphic design and StatCrew.
Strong organizational skills.
Experience utilizing social media platforms.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel domestically.
Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree.
Strong writing skills.
Experience working in collegiate athletics.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt with a grade of I, salary range $41,120 - $61,680. The offered rate is dependent upon internal equity and the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience.
