Assistant Director for Strategic Communications- Athletics

Hampton University, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Strategic Communications to publicize the University’s Division I athletics program.
Job Duties:
Candidate must have experience and a strong knowledge of statistical software programs (Genius Live Stats) for in-game stats and live statistics.
Experience with social media and website maintenance required.
Cover assigned sports, including both men’s and women’s teams.
Write press releases for assigned sports.
Host media at athletic events.
Develop positive relationships with the media, coaches, administration, and stakeholders.
Assist as department’s liaison with Flo Sports television production.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of experience in collegiate communications.
Strong computer skills and related software capability.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to organize and supervise student interns.
Availability to travel on weekends and holidays, as needed.
Requirements:
Must have excellent written and verbal skills
Demonstrate the ability to manage complex issues and relationships
Experience at a CAA institution, conference, or professional sports organization preferred.
