Job Description

The Stanford University Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director, Marketing. Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing, this position will support all Stanford Athletics marketing efforts to generate revenue, increase attendance and build brand affinity for Stanford Athletics programs. This position will focus on digital marketing, including but not limited to web-based advertising, paid social campaigns, and email marketing and automation, while supporting all other marketing efforts. Successful execution of this role will drive ticket sales and event attendance, increase merchandise sales, generate new leads and amplify the stories of Stanford’s student-athletes and programs. This is a full-time, exempt position.

   

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Create and implement strategic marketing plans for select sports, working closely with the ticket sales and fan experience teams and with support from the marketing team; support development of marketing plans for other sports and initiatives.
  • Manage, build and track marketing automation email campaigns, including product marketing efforts, cart abandonment and nurturing campaigns, and other database communications.
  • Lead in the creation, optimization and tracking of digital advertising campaigns across channels including search, display, social, OTT, and audio streaming.
  • Oversee, create and track lead generation campaigns to find ways to nurture new fans.
  • Write, edit, and support the design of various marketing campaigns including email marketing, digital ads, postcards, and other marketing collateral, which adhere to the communications and brand strategy and standards.
  • Collaborate with communications and digital teams to amplify digital content to build fandom and leverage social platforms as a marketing tool to help sell tickets, generate leads and support other revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external vendors and partners (e.g., Buck/Cardinal Club, Active Campaign).
  • Work cross-functionally on select projects (e.g. Cardinal Kids Club, student marketing initiatives) to support brand affinity and revenue goals.
  • Be a positive steward and ambassador of the Stanford Athletics brand.
  • Other duties as assigned.
