This posting is for a full-time, 11-month, exempt position. The assistant men’s and women’s golf coach administers all areas of a Division II men’s and women’s golf program.

Essential Functions

This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.

1. Administer the intercollegiate athletic program in compliance with University, NCAA and GMAC rules and regulations as requires.
   
2. Recommend and administer specific sports budget.
   
3. Participate in the public relations and promotion of the sports program.
   
4. Supervise assistant coaches and other staff as required.
   
5. Consult with various campus agencies as to eligibility, admission of student athletes, facilities needed, security and financial aid.
   
6. Consult with student athletes as related to discipline, academic progress, and personal growth.
   
7. Coordinate plan for physical conditioning and practice preparation.

4. Supervise assistant coaches and other staff as required.
   
5. Consult with various campus agencies as to eligibility, admission of student athletes, facilities needed, security and financial aid.
   
6. Consult with student athletes as related to discipline, academic progress, and personal growth.
   
7. Coordinate plan for physical conditioning and practice preparation.
   
8. Oversee practice sessions, pre-game preparations and on-course competitions.
   
9. Evaluate talent of prospective student athletes, organization of home visits and phone contacts with prospect and family.
   
10. Perform necessary duties in relationship to fundraising through the Oilers club.
    
11. Plan and organize all aspects of team travel.
    
12. Establish consistent guidelines and requirements for participation in the sport of golf.
    
13. Report any violations of compliance regulations.
    
14. Ability to coach student athletes in game and practice situations.
    
15. Organize a team that is competitive and representative of the University’s philosophy and compatible with its mission.
    
16. Instruct assigned hours.
    
17. Meet recruiting goals.
    
18. Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for the position.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position supervises athletic training students.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In some situations, the noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands
Walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves continually during working hours. Is subject to lifting over 50 pounds. Must be able to lift raise or lower an object from one level to another (includes upward and pulling motion) of 50-75 lbs. and must be able to carry/transport an object/equipment weighing 50-75 lbs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 11-month position, and hours of work and days vary depending on athletic practice and competition schedule. Candidate must be available Sunday-Saturday.

Travel
This job requires travel with the golf team to competitions and events. Evening and weekend work is expected. A valid US Drivers’ license with a safe driving record is required.

Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Knowledge of NCAA and GMAC rules and regulations including recruiting, eligibility and certification.
3. Public relations and promotional skills.

Preferred Education and Experience
1. Master’s degree.
2. One year of successful coaching experience at the intercollegiate level is required or PGA/LPGA teaching experience
