The Assistant Swimming Coach (Aquatics Coordinator) is responsible for providing oversight of aquatics staff and pool policies/protocols, aquatics programming, teaching athletic skills, strategies and techniques in the sport and mentoring student athletes by utilizing coaching methodologies in a competitive sport environment and fostering academic achievement of the student. This is a full-time position.
Essential Functions
Oversee all activities in the Daskalakis Athletic Center pool including open swim, one-day events & reservations, aquatic programming, and club sport team practices & games.
Assists the Head Swimming Coach in planning, critiquing and implementing strategies designed to achieve success in a competitive sports program by breaking down and analyzing trends and strategies, making recommendations for new strategies.
Responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling of lifeguard & swim instructor staff.
Develop and run swim lesson program, including oversight of certified swim instructors. Organize group & private lesson offerings and work with Member Services team for sales.
Develop student athletes' skills and performance during sports competition on the Division 1 level by teaching new strategies and techniques, providing detailed game plans; implementing and conducting training programs; assists with the preparation and implementation of weekly practice and conditioning sessions; monitoring students' adherence to department, conference and NCAA guidelines, resolving issues and reporting infractions.
Identify and recruit student athletes who are qualified to compete academically and athletically at the Division I level by analyzing and evaluating the skill level of potential recruits; analyzing and evaluating the academic potential of new recruits; assessing the needs of the program and the available options to fulfill individual personal needs.
Assists with daily operations and management by preparing and maintaining proper documentation on NCAA related matters to ensure compliance on issues such as recruitment, official visits and practice schedules.
Represent Drexel and serve as active committee professional in Philadelphia City 6 Extramural Sports Association.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
Minimum of 1 years of experience.
Valid Lifeguard Instructor Certification (or ability to attain within 3 months of employment).
Knowledge of teaching and coaching skills in Swimming.
Working knowledge of NCAA guidelines.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
2 years of coaching experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Ability to bend, crouch, stoop.
