EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time position

PRIMARY DUTY: The Assistant Track & Field Coach - Throwers is responsible for supporting the Head Track & Field / Cross Country Coach in all phases of highly competitive Division II programs including but not limited to: practice and meet preparation, organizing and running meets, camps, and clinics; recruiting; alumni and public relations; and adherence to the rules of the NCAA, MIAA, and Northwest Missouri State University.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrate a professional philosophy that supports student-athletes’ welfare and is in compliance with the missions of Northwest Missouri State University and the NCAA
  • Responsible for home track meet planning, organizing, and management for cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field meets
  • Responsible for the coaching of throwers (discus, hammer, shotput, weight throw, javelin): organization, planning, and conducting practices, workouts, and competitions
  • Assess talent and recruit prospective student athletes for cross country and track and field programs
  • Assist with team travel for track & field programs
  • Assist in all equipment control and inventory for track & field programs
  • Assist in academic monitoring and mentoring for track & field programs
  • Engage in fund raising activities as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics
