Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for an Assistant Volleyball Coach. In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist in administering the progress and success of the intercollegiate women’s volleyball program within the guidelines of the NCAA, the SWAC Conference, and the Alabama State University. This includes all pre-season, in-season and post-season activities necessary to the development of a nationally competitive team.
Responsibilities & Duties
Assist the Head Coach with coaching of position or athletes assigned.
Assist in planning and implementation of court training.
Communicate with Head Coach to aid in efficient communication to the student-athletes as it pertains to academics, volleyball, film etc.
Assist with video and statistics analysis as needed for game planning, post-game, and training. (Volleymetrics, Hudl, Data Volley)
Pre-season, in-season and postseason activities necessary to the development of a nationally competitive team.
Assist in coordinating the evaluation, recruitment, preparation, and development of all student athletes. Such evaluation and recruitment activities may include but are not limited to identifying, contacting, and recruiting prospective student-athletes by phone, mail, and other forms of correspondence.
Traveling to various locations throughout the state of Alabama and across the country to meet and evaluate in person prospective student-athletes.
Assist in all aspects of preparation and development of women’s volleyball athletes. Such activities may include but are not limited to planning practice sessions, video analysis of performance, providing feedback, and encouraging positive performance.
Operation of yearly volleyball camps and clinics on campus and assist in coordination of all team travel in a manner that reflects fiscally responsible University resource management.
Assist in alumni outreach events and all other events related to growing the Alabama State University Athletics brand. Such activities may include but are not limited to planning alumni events, engaging alumni and fans, attending other sporting events, and participating in community outreach events.
Drive the coordination of messaging and branding on Bama State Volleyball social media outlets in accordance with university and departmental guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, 1 to 3 years of coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division I level, proven volleyball playing experience, demonstrated experience in working in a diverse urban and/or intercollegiate athletics environment, working knowledge of NCAA Southwestern Athletic Conference rules and regulations, proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs, knowledge and practice related to relevant video and statistical analysis software, excellent verbal written, and interpersonal communications skills. Must have a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record, and be available to travel during season and during recruitment period.
