Newberry College (NCAA D2), located in Newberry, SC, is seeking applicants for our Assistant Women’s and Men’s Track and Field Coach positions. The selected candidate will ensure the team operates and conducts themselves within the ideals, goals, rules and regulations set forth by Newberry College, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). The successful candidate will embrace and promote the mission of Newberry College.
This position reports directly to the Head Women’s and Men’s Track and Field Coach. The successful candidate will provide leadership, organization, supervision, instruction, and strategic planning for the Wolves women’s and men’s track and field team.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Create an atmosphere that emphasizes the student-athlete experience.
• Construct a plan to ensure academic success and personal development of student-athletes
• Meet recruiting and retention goals.
• Ensure each student-athlete has a pathway towards graduation.
• Identify, evaluate, and recruit academically prepared student-athletes in accordance with college policy and NCAA regulations.
• Establish an effective communication plan with student-athletes.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Women’s and Men’s Track and Field Coach.

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, and previous collegiate men’s track and field coaching or playing experience is preferred. Knowledge and experience in jumps, throws, pole vault & multi events preferred. Upon employment, the candidate must successfully complete NCAA certification exam.
