Job Description
This campus-based position supports strategic direction and administration of the implementation and is capable of monitoring of all aspects of the office of athletics compliance. This includes the interpretation of
NCAA
guidelines and by-laws (30+), education of athletes, coaches and campus units, and subsequent assessment of the implementation of said by-laws. This includes day-to-day operations and program plan creation and implementation. Violations of by-laws and/or University policies are investigated and assessed by this role. A successful candidate will have the expertise to provide interpretation and compliance guidance to other Athletic Compliance team members, as well as constituents. They will manage a personal portfolio as the primary contact and provide compliance oversight for a Power Four high-profile sport, as well as other assigned sports. They support the implementation of the
NIL
compliance program. This includes the assessment of viability of individual agreements between student athletes and community partners, including agents.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree/juris doctor preferred.
Five (5) plus years of full-time experience applying Division I
NCAA
rules and regulations at a Division I institution.
Experience in continuing eligibility and transfer eligibility legislation preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to interact with diverse groups.
Strong supervisory skills and the ability to manage people and job responsibilities.
This position requires evening and weekend duties.
Responsibilities
Implement aspects of the unit’s strategic objectives and support data collection, audit and reporting functions.
Work collaboratively and provide education for other athletics compliance staff to support the monitoring, educating and documentation of all required processes and procedures.
Serve as campus subject matter expert on athletics compliance and provide support/ interpretation as needed.
Establish sustainable policies, procedures, and written programs for compliance oversight.
Assist with the annual Sport Sponsorship report.
Manage a personal portfolio as the primary contact for a Power Four high-profile sport, (men’s basketball) as well as other assigned sports.
Interact with assigned coaches and student-athletes and provide
NCAA
Bylaws and
ACC
rules education, rule interpretation, waivers and violation self-reports.
Determine athlete initial and continuing eligibility for all assigned sports.
Monitor team practice sessions, and athlete competition consistent with
NCAA
bylaws and
ACC
rules.
Conduct violation investigations, interview impacted parties, provide written report to the Director of Compliance within 7 days of reported violation.
Track and monitor violation trends and dashboarding.
Supports the implementation of the
NIL
compliance program. This includes the assessment of viability of individual agreements between student athletes and community partners, including agents.
Assist with the design and implementation a compliance program plan to respond to changes in
NIL
guidelines as they arise.
Provides backup and/ or prospective successor for the Director of Compliance to oversee management of the
NIL
compliance program.
