The Associate Director will assist with the management of daily operations of assigned athletic department facilities and coordination of Rice University athletic events and internal/external events as needed.

Essential Functions
Meets with stakeholders to plan scope and format of events, establishes and monitors budgets, and reviews administrative procedures and event progress
Serves as project leader on events, coordinating teams that plan, implement, and manage all aspects of events
Takes responsibility for budget planning and management, venue management, and equipment and facilities management
Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external partners
Negotiates vendor contracts to minimize liability and risks
Researches and provides recommendations for potential event locations, and evaluate alternatives
Procures and coordinates vendor services
Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions
Coordinates daily operations including maintenance, staffing, scheduling, and event setup/teardown of assigned athletic department facilities by completing walkthroughs and identifying needs, communicating with coaches, colleagues and student-athletes, and preparing for athletic and special events.
Serves as the event manager for assigned sports. Event manager is responsible for in-event management for coaches, student-athletes and fans, and ensures venue is prepared for practices and competitions.
Assists with preparation and game-day duties for football.
Establishes staffing plans for athletic events to stay within assigned budget.
Provides management for assigned outside event rentals.
Works with Facilities, Engineering and Planning, Custodial, and Grounds through submitted service requests, to see that all components of assigned buildings are being maintained and improved as needed.
Corresponds with campus partners including, but not limited to: Parking, Custodial, FE&P, RUPD, and REMS to ensure all staffing needs are met for events.
Interview, hire, train, and mentor interns and student-workers.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferences
Bachelor's degree with a concentration/major in sports management or sports administration
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics rules/regulations
