Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking a fulltime, onsite Athletic Academic Specialist in our Mastodon Academic Performance Center. The Athletic Academic Specialist is responsible for supporting the academic success and personal development of student-athletes. The pay for this position is between $43,888.00 annually.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide individualized academic support services, monitors academic progress toward degree completion, and ensures compliance with NCAA academic eligibility requirements.
Collaborate with Athletics and campus stakeholders to assess the academic qualifications of prospective student-athletes and to co-facilitate NCAA-mandated and institutionally supported life skills and developmental programming.
Contribute to the holistic development of student-athletes and upholds institutional and NCAA standards of academic integrity and student support.
Provide comprehensive academic support to assigned student-athletes, including proactive outreach, regular meetings, and individualized academic success planning.
Assist in managing the NCAA academic eligibility certification process three times annually.
Teach 2–3 sections annually of the Freshman Success course for student-athletes.
Maintain accurate records of academic support activities and student progress.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
0-2 years of related experience.
Proficiency in higher education systems and software, including Banner, DegreeWorks, LSDBi, and Compliance Assistant.
Knowledge of student development theory, academic advising practices, and strategies for learning and retention.
Familiarity with NCAA academic eligibility regulations and compliance standards.
