Director of Digital Media

Position Summary

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is searching for a Director of Digital Marketing to provide leadership, strategy and execution of the Michigan State Athletics digital efforts, including marketing automation, digital marketing, CRM, website and app, social media, advertising, and revenue generation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Digital Marketing: Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the athletic department’s digital marketing efforts to increase ticket and donation revenue and attendance through social media, email, website, app and other similar initiatives.
  • Marketing Automation: Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the athletic department’s email communication to customers involving ticket opportunities, event promotion, corporate partnerships engagement and game day information.
  • Ticket Sales Attendance: Provide support, leadership, strategy, and execution of ticket opportunities, including season, mini plans, group and individual game tickets, to public, students, alumni and staff. Goal is to increase both attendance and revenue, while providing additional opportunities for new fans. Effectively communicate and coordinate with the Spartan Ticket Office to develop, implement and evaluate these sales and promotional efforts.
  • New Fan Development: Provide leadership, strategy and execution of new fan development through incoming students, parents, recent alumni, single-game ticket purchasers, Seat Geek ticket buyers, Fanatics purchasers, corporate partnerships, and other local individuals and groups.
  • Website and Mobile App Development: Provide support, leadership, strategy, and execution on digital initiatives within the official athletics webpage and mobile app, including building webpages for mobile ticketing and sport-specific ticketing landing pages, integration of mobile ticketing within app, developing and utilizing ticket information and email sign-up forms to cultivate new purchasers, and using ad spaces for ticket and event promotion.
  • Research and Evaluation: Utilize analytical tools and conduct research activities to determine the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, ticket sales initiatives and marketing plans.
