The Director of S.O.U.L. (Serving Our Uncommon Legacy) Mission will assist all current football student athletes by providing education and examples of the importance of serving others by organizing events and opportunities to foster an appreciation for people and a love for serving others consistent with the core values of S.O.U.L. Mission. They will also assist with the communication and engagement of former players to the program with opportunities to interact and mentor the current players to promote an atmosphere consistent with what it means to be a “Sooner for Life”. They will assist the other directors to enhance each pillar of the S.O.U.L. Mission vision and overall vision of the Head Coach.

Essential Functions:

• Assists with all recruiting events and operations
• All aspects of community service and engagement
• Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned area.
• Create a bye week service project based on community needs at the time
• Lead a Martin Luther King Service Project each year
• Organize and work with the Children’s Hospital on the Art with a Heart event annually
• Work with the OU Children’s Hospital for robot visits to the facility for sick children who cannot leave the hospital
• Work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters for a Movie Night each summer
• Organize and chaperone the Spring Break Service Trip
• Organize and chaperone the Maymester Service Trip abroad
• Organize annual the S.O.U.L Dinner
• Assist in providing outreach services in times of natural disasters or community-based needs
• Work with main campus and academics to establish class credits for approved service projects
• Assist with career development and life skills development
• All aspects of former player relations
• Oversee- community service and engagement
• Foster relationships to build network for student athletes
• Meet with assigned 30 players bi-weekly & provide report cards
• Assist with camps
• Assist with banquet planning
• Assist with creating a fun family atmosphere
• Assist with mid-year move in
• Create Mental Health Report Card for assigned 30 players
• Help build a network of personal, professional, spiritual mentors
• Coordinate and Manage Spring Game Event for Former Players
• Coordinate and Manage Fall BBQ for Former Players
• Represent Former Players at any awards presentations
• Coordinate and Manage game day environment for Former Players
• Create and manage a Former Player’s Council
• Create and Organize community service project that bring the gap with Former Players
• Work with team sport performance, and team on team messaging
• Attend all staff meetings
• Attend weekly council meeting
• Create academic accountability with your group
• Create and oversee all community service initiatives
• Create and oversee service trip opportunities
• Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

 

Job Requirements

  Required Education: Bachelor's Degree AND:

• 24 months of related experience

Departmental Preferences:

• Prior experience in collegiate athletics or related field
• Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and calendar software
• Adobe & Canvas capability desired

Skills:

• Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
• Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
• Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
• Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, coaches, administrators and other staff
• Able to demonstrate ability to work well with a diverse group of clients
• Committed to confidentiality regulated by university, state, and federal rules and regulations
• Able to gain and maintain working knowledge of university, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations
