Director of Track & Field/Cross Country

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary: This position is responsible to the Director of Athletics for the development of a competitive Track & Field and Cross-Country program within the guidelines of the NCAA, RMAC, and Colorado Mesa University. Along with coaching their own discipline it includes all aspects of a collegiate track and cross-country program; recruiting, scouting, budgeting, planning, organizing, scheduling, monitoring academic performance and promoting intercollegiate athletics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the Track & Field/Cross-Country program. This includes supervision of assistant coaches, scouting, recruitment of student athletes, monitoring academic progress of athletes, scheduling meets, ensuring compliance with NCAA and RMAC conference rules or regulations and eligibility of players.

Responsible for the development and implementation of all aspects of pre-season, in-season, post-season and off-season training. Coaching assigned specialty.

Supervise and participate in the recruitment of student athletes. This includes interviewing, screening, assessment/evaluation, and meeting with coaches, counselors, principals, teachers, and parents to facilitate the process.
