Description

The Esports Facility Manager & Coach will be responsible for the development and administration of the Esports facility and associated activities at Samford, as well as recruiting student participants for the program, and coaching and devising strategy for teams. The position will provide key input into the selection of games and tournaments in which the team will participate and provide daily oversight for the Esports facility and associated students and staff. The Esports Facility Manager & Coach develops ongoing relationships with both student and academic groups on campus.

Job Duties

• Develop, implement, and manage Esports programs, leagues, tournaments, and events for students. This includes establishing rules, formats, and schedules.
• Recruit, train, and manage players, student coaches, and other staff for the Esports facility.
• Oversee league rules compliance, and players' academic eligibility. Enforce codes of conduct.

The Esports Facility Manager & Coach develops ongoing relationships with both student and academic groups on campus.

Job Duties

• Develop, implement, and manage Esports programs, leagues, tournaments, and events for students. This includes establishing rules, formats, and schedules.
• Recruit, train, and manage players, student coaches, and other staff for the Esports facility.
• Oversee league rules compliance, and players' academic eligibility. Enforce codes of conduct.
• Create a supportive environment that fosters personal growth and development, steward conversations regarding the integration of faith and gaming, and integrate faith into team culture based on Samford University’s community values.
• In collaboration with Technology Services, manage the Esports facility equipment, and technology infrastructure. Ensure all technology and equipment stays current.
• Assist in developing partnerships with game publishers, sponsors, vendors, and other colleges/universities. Cultivate sponsorships.
• Provide input into Samford Esports marketing, communications, and promotional plans to grow awareness of the Esports program, events, and activities.
• Analyze metrics, viewership, participation rates, and other data to refine programs and optimize operations.
• Stay current on Esports trends, games, gaming technology, and best practices for Esports programs.
• Represent the Esports program and Samford’s mission professionally as the public face to students, prospective students, faculty, administration, partners, sponsors, and at Esports industry events/conferences.
• Represent Samford Esports in discussions with Esports gaming bodies (e.g. National Association of Collegiate Esports - NACE and the National Esports Collegiate Conference - NECC)
• Collaborate with Samford Student Gaming Club
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong relationship-building skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Three (3) years of experience in Esports administration or coaching
• Comprehensive gaming experience with titles such as League of Legends, Smash Bros, Valorant, Rocket League, Overwatch, Fortnite
• Demonstrated ability to recruit Esports talent
• Experience with team compliance in leagues and/or conferences

Preferred Qualifications

• PriorEsports experience at an institution of Higher Education
• Master’s degree
• Shoutcasting experience
