Job Description:
The Iowa State Athletics Department is seeking applications for the position of Event Operations Specialist. This position will work in a fast-paced environment and plan, coordinate and oversee multiple functions that support and enhance athletic competitions and auxiliary events hosted by the department. Duties may include:
- Coordinate administrative processes for event management such as third-party billing, estimates, review of incident reports, assistance with the master schedule, etc.
- Manage the Athletics Department guest relations and customer service efforts including complaint resolution and general questions
- Coordinate employment efforts for event Guest Services staff to include sourcing, interviews, hires, training, schedules, payment, and performance coaching of in-house staff
- Serve as liaison with outsourced staffing agency(s) to ensure adequate event coverage
- Coordinate and supervise guest services staff and third-party vendors during assigned live events
- Oversight of the planning and operations for parking at home games and large activities hosted by the department and administration of parking software
- Assist in serving as a venue liaison to all parties involved in the event to ensure effective communications and smooth ancillary operations (parking, security, catering, merchandising, ticketing, guest services, sponsorship coordination, media, officials, visiting teams, etc.)
- Review Ticketmaster following events to assist with account reconciliation
- May occasionally serve as a primary event manager/planner for designated events
- Commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, andNCAA
The ideal candidates will be self-driven and results oriented with a strong focus on customer service. Candidates should be highly organized; possess strong listening, interpersonal and communication skills; have proven ability to work with regular interruptions and manage multiple projects simultaneously; and be a problem solver. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse clientele.
This job requires the ability to work at assigned evening and/or weekend events; ability to lift and move up to 30 poung; and ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
