Queens University of Charlotte’s Athletics is an NCAA Division I program distinguished by its commitment to transforming the lives of its students and consistently competing at the highest possible levels. The Royals joined the ASUN Conference on July 1, 2022.

Former graduate assistants (GA) and interns have used their learning and practicing experiences with the Royals to land jobs with organizations such as the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, USA Triathlon, USA Swimming, and Ally to name a few.

This is a 12-month renewable GA position that reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications. The GA position begins during the summer ahead of the 2024-2025 season. The successful candidate must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte. There is no expressed or implied commitment to a paid position upon completion of the internship. This role is eligible for tuition remission for up to six credit hours per semester and a stipend. No housing is offered.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a great opportunity to enhance an individual’s athletic communications skills. The graduate assistant for athletic communications will learn how to assist the athletic communications department in their efforts to grow the Queens Athletics brand through multiple forms of storytelling. They will serve as the primary contact for multiple sports as they hone their skills in the profession. The selected individual will be provided instruction and directions and perform duties under close observation. There is no expressed or implied commitment to a paid position upon completion of the internship.

Areas Learning and Application:

  • Learn and practice writing and editing press releases
  • Learn and practice keeping or overseeing in-game statistics
  • Learn and practice daily maintenance of the athletic website
