Graduate Assistant - Athletics Communications
The Graduate Assistant for Athletics Communications is directly responsible to the Associate Director of Athletic Communications and serves as the primary contact for multiple sports and serves as a secondary contact for other programs.
Serve as a communications contact for multiple sports, with tasks including, but not limited to: Writing press releases, game notes and feature stories Updating and maintaining the official athletics website Compiling statistics at athletic events Coordinating interviews and other requests with coaches and student-athletes Pitching story ideas to local and national media outlets Traveling with teams as appropriate The successful candidate must have a commitment to adhering to all rules and regulations of Auburn University, the Southeastern Conference, and the NCAA. In addition, the candidates must understand and actively support the mission of the Auburn Athletics Department and Auburn University.
Entry into the candidate pool requires a bachelors degree and acceptance into a masters degree program at Auburn University. Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in communication or related area. Experience in collegiate athletic communications, Adobe Creative Suite, Stats Crew, NCAA Genius Live Stats, graphic/publication design, understanding of social media strategy/implementation. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
