Lead Mental Health Counselor - Athletics Department

Athletics Administration-Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh-(24000757)

Advises senior administrators on current issues related to the mental health and well-being of student-athletes. Participates with department committees. Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical psychotherapy services addressing a range of mental healthconcerns for a diverse population of student athletes utilizing specialized techniques to fosterdevelopment, remediate mental health problems, and promote positive mental health. Facilitatescomprehensive assessments and treatments, referrals for hospitalizations, and case reviews. Provides on-call emergency coverage, prepares reports, and performs administrative duties.

Job Summary

Manages the training programs and outreach services for the Counseling Center. Facilitates client-related paperwork and ensures confidentiality of all client records. Develops comprehensive assessments and provides psychological counseling for clients.

Essential Functions

• Advise senior administrators on current issues related to mental health and well-being of student-athletes.
• Participates in multiple department committees related to student-athlete health, wellness, and experience.
• Assists in developing long-term strategic plan for mental health and wellness department within athletics.
• Liaison to community and other healthcare providers.
• Provides targeted, advanced-level, clinical psychotherapy services primarily to student-athletes for a range of mental health concerns, including assessments; prevention and crisis services; individual, group, and relationship therapy; intake services; and diagnostic functions.
• Utilizes specialized techniques to foster student-athlete development, remediate mental health problems, promote positive mental health, develop individual treatment plans, and support academic and athletic success.
