Learning objectives for the Media Relations/Social Media Intern include, but are not limited to:
Learn the day-to-day responsibilities of covering a sport by working directly with team personnel, colleagues within the Athletic Department, the conference and governing bodies of various sports
Develop an understanding of in-game sport operations and social media coverage through working a wide variety of home events and games (includes nights and weekends)
Gain familiarity with stat input programs along with Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, and Premiere software, and web management
Increase ability to creatively think of story feature ideas to promote student-athletes and coaches in media while creating and executing cutting-edge content to be used across a number of different platforms (e.g. X, Facebook, Instagram) and the website
Gain experience in managing the implementation of social media campaigns
Gain journalistic writing ability, using Associated Press style guidelines
Develop ability to see and read emerging trends, brainstorming best creative implementations to incorporate within Louisville Athletics brand and message
Develop strong oral communication skills when dealing with media, coaches and student-athletes. Assist student-athletes and coaches with media interviews
Improve multitasking and time management skills by managing multiple projects and deadlines
