Job Description

The Multimedia Manager will coordinate, encode, organize, and log media files from current and past athletic events for the Syracuse University Athletics Dept. This role will be vital in assisting the Athletics Production and Creative departments with media management for use in social media and game/special event productions. This person is expected to work with the Athletics Department to identify consistent naming conventions and tagging mechanisms for digital media. Other tasks will include requesting and/or providing video feeds and footage for network television partners or teams, coordinating streams for cuse.com and distribution of video feeds for the needs of the athletics department. In addition, collaboration with other departments across campus will be expected. Strong production skills, knowledge of production equipment and understanding of video codecs is necessary to be successful in this position. This position will report to the Director of Broadcast Engineering and Operations for Athletics Production.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum two to five years of experience in video production and operations

Understanding and experience in integration of video production equipment and video codecs

Experience in video production setting preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

Must have a knowledge of technical aspects of video production and video codecs

Must be able to perform basic analysis and apply problem solving as necessary to complete specific assignments;

Excellent interpersonal communication skills;

Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment;

Ability to work with varied agencies, including within the University and external; work with cross-functional teams and to foster teamwork;

Ability to manage stressful situations; ability and proven work experience multitasking and meeting deadlines;

Commitment to the University’s mission and strategic plan.

Responsibilities

Encode, archive, organize and log media from tape to digital files. Assist in the development of a media asset management system

Organization of current media filer by year, sport, and player as applicable

Manage recording and streaming of away sporting events by communicating with home team media department or network television contact

Organize current game broadcasts/radio broadcasts for creative team to utilize in video projects and/or to send in footage requests

Assist Athletics Production and Creative Department with event production, engineering and execution. Collaboration with other departments on campus will be necessary.
