Job Summary:

Marist College Office of Counseling Services seeks a full-time psychologist with passion, commitment and expertise in working with student athletes and students with disordered eating concerns. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in addressing the unique needs of the Division 1 college athlete and promotion of their holistic well-being. The ideal candidate will have expertise in working with any students disordered eating and body image concerns. The role will serve as a conduit between Counseling Services and Athletics, coordinating collaboration and programming between both areas, reporting to both Director of Counseling Services and Assistant Director or Sports Medicine.

This 12-month position involves provision of a range of services to a diverse student population, including intakes; individual counseling; group counseling' consultation; crisis intervention; on-call rotation; and innovative outreach programming and workshops. Counseling Services is committed to enhancing student mental health through accessible, culturally-informed and affirming care, contributing to a campus culture of inclusiveness, equity and wellness.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program

Must be licensed or license-eligible as a Psychologist in New York State

Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical services to college students, athletes, and individuals with eating disorders.

Understanding of NCAA mandates and mental health best practices.

Essential Functions:

Provide intakes, individual and group counseling within a culturally responsive and inclusive lens.

Conduct risk assessments and crisis interventions including facilitating referrals for hospital psychiatric evaluations; consult with involved professionals, college staff and families when indicated.

Collaborate and liaison with campus partners, including but not limited to Health Services and Sports Medicine to address the intersection of mental health and physical well being.

Work with members of Coaching and Sports Medicine staff to ensure collaborative and comprehensive approaches to supporting college athlete wellbeing.

Participate in Eating Disorder Treatment team meetings.

Participate in emergency on-call rotation after-hours and weekends.

Provide consultations to faculty, staff, students, administration and families on student behavioral and mental health concerns through phone and in-person communications.

Coordinate and participate in occasional evening/weekend Outreach or Student Affairs programming

Maintain current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with legal, ethical and professional guidelines and Counseling Services policies using Titanium Schedule electronic records.

Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

One to three years experience in collegiate athletic setting

Eligibility or Certification as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC)

Eligibility or Certification as a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS)

Demonstrated dedication and attentiveness to social justice issues and intersectionality in serving historically marginalized students as well as commitment to ongoing development of cultural competencies.

Committed self-care practice to maintain resilience.

Interest, experience, and commitment to facilitating groups.

Effective at designing/presenting trainings and outreach programs to students, faculty, staff.

Flexibility responding to high demand for services and changing program needs.

Familiarity with Titanium electronic medical record.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Tuition Benefits:

Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.

College pays 100% tuition only.

Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
