Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Assistant Director for Scholarships, the Scholarship Analyst is responsible for tracking and monitoring several student financial aid programs both student outcomes and budgetary limits; assisting in the awarding of scholarships, reviewing students for renewal eligibility, and serving as the athletic aid liaison. This requires a close attention to detail, ability to learn and apply complex rules; and a dedication to student success.

Department Summary

The Financial Aid Office is responsible for the determination of eligibility and awarding of federal, state, institutional and private grants, scholarships, and work and loan programs in excess of $150M annually to over 13,000 eligible students. The office is responsible for adhering to the regulatory requirements as outlined in federal and state regulations as well as donor and institutional policies and for assuring compliance by the University. The Financial Aid Office serves the University by assisting students in obtaining financial aid and scholarships to attend Cal Poly. The Office's primary function is to provide appropriate financial aid based on federal and state parameters and in keeping with CSU and Cal Poly institutional policies.

Key Qualifications

Serve as Athletic Aid Liaison for financial aid, communicating with the Athletic Department and the Assistant Director of Scholarships for coordination of athletic aid including named scholarships specific to Athletics. Maintain athletic aid data and correspondence, and prepare, review and revise Athletic Aid award packages.

Assist with scholarship decisions, awarding, revisions and renewal. Revise and adjust award packages or budgets as necessary and ensure students are not over awarded.

Process stipend and grant initiative funds following grant requirements and institutional policy, ensure coordination of student aid. Track stipend/grant funding, ensuring timely receipt of funds for student disbursement and completing budget reconciliation.

Track and reconcile institutional scholarship funds and ensure funds are not over-spent.
