Job Description

Summary

The Army West Point Athletic Association (AWPAA) Olympic Strength and Conditioning program is accepting applications for 3 strength and conditioning interns for the 2025 Fall semester and the full 2025-26 academic year to work with Olympic sports. The position will start in early August 2025 and end mid May 2026. Be aware this is a volunteer, UNPAID internship – some clothing and food will be provided but only apply if you can financially support yourself in the local area.

Successful applicants will benefit from exposure to Division I athletics and military/tactical training, continuing professional education (including a full educational curriculum), the opportunity to further develop as coaches in a practical setting, and on-going support from our network of intern graduates and staff members. Interns will be immersed in the day-to-day work environment and fully integrated with their mentors’ teams - this will include assisting with general administration and maintenance, session set-up and break-down, data collection, and most importantly, coaching and supporting the cadet-athletes. This internship will also fulfil hours required for the CsCCa-SCCC exam under the mentorship of Director of Strength and Conditioning, Scott Swanson.

Required Qualifications

  • Desire to become a college strength and conditioning coach.
  • Must either possess, or be actively working towards, an exercise science (or similar) degree and certification as either a SCCC or CSCS.
