The Student Athlete Eligibility & Transfer Specialist reports to the Director of the Student Services Center and liaises with the Athletic Academic Resource Center (AARC) and the Compliance Team in the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER). The person in this role will administer, implement, and interpret university and department policies and procedures on issues specifically regarding university transfer credit for student athletes and NCAA regulations. The candidate must be able to identify, clarify, and resolve highly visible or complex issues with substantial significance and impact that may span multiple areas, using advanced technical and professional knowledge requiring independent judgment. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge about NCAA academic eligibility rules and regulations. This is a three-year fixed term position.

The Student Services Center (SSC) provides exceptional customer service to Stanford students, parents, departments, and alumni by providing a single point of contact to analyze and resolve questions about academic and financial regulations, financial transactions, academic progress, and transaction-based issues. The Student Services Center is proud to be part of the division of Student Affairs, which educates students to make meaningful contributions as citizens of a complex world.

Your Responsibilities:

PROSPECTIVE STUDENT ATHLETE TRANSFER CREDIT EVALUATIONS

  • Lead efforts to develop and implement a transfer evaluation process for student-athletes in close consultation with campus partners.
  • After completion of transfer credit evaluation, provide an assessment of athletic academic eligibility to campus partners.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and the student athletes Undergraduate Advising Director (UAD) to determine which courses can fulfill university and program requirements .
  • Communicate results of transfer credit evaluation to campus partners.
  • Once a student athlete has matriculated, post the appropriate credits to the student athlete’s record and transcript.
  • Evaluate and streamline the overall transfer credit process for Stanford; look to implement new technologies to improve the process.
