Assistant Coach – Men’s Soccer

Full-time

Southern Virginia University is seeking to hire a talented and motivated Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach. The Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach reports to and will assist the Head Men’s Soccer Coach in directing all activities of the men’s soccer program within NCAA, USA South and Southern Virginia University policies, guidelines, and procedures. The Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach is responsible for supporting the athletic and academic development of student-athletes while focusing on student-athlete welfare.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach in the coaching, training and decision making of the men’s soccer team; developing and conducting all in-season and out-of-season sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Aid the head coach in the psychological preparation of team in both pre-game and post-game; and for developing motivational approach to practice and meets.
  • Assist with filming and technique instruction.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of soccer in decision-making, delegating authority and in setting objectives.
  • Travel to all competitions – in-state and out-of-state is required.
  • Understand and adhere to all rules and regulations of the NCAA, USA South and Southern Virginia University.
  • Effective and timely preparation and management of administrative functions related to the soccer program is required. Duties include making travel plans, maintaining compliance logs and campus visits, etc.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Successfully complete all required NCAA coaches curriculum and trainings.
