Under the supervision of the Director of Athletic Communications, the Assistant Director, Athletic Communications shall develop and write, both in news and feature form, press releases about the coaches and athletes of assigned sports and disseminate this information to the media and to the public via the UCLA Athletics website and social media channels in an effort to publicize various UCLA athletic teams. The Assistant Director, Athletic Communications will also compile notes and statistics for their assigned sports; oversee social media posts of assigned teams; maintain and update the sports’ website; write and update coach and athlete biographies; update and digitally publish information guides; pitch stories to media; and act as an on-the-record spokesperson and liaison between the coaches and athletes of their assigned sports and members of the print and electronic media. The Assistant Director, Athletic Communications will also staff home events and oversee press operations for their assigned sports and other home athletic events as needed. They may also travel with assigned teams when deemed appropriate by their supervisor, reporting results of events to media, including the UCLA Athletics website and social media outlets, and assisting media covering the events.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
