To assist the Head Football Coach in the administration and operation of the football program.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsible for orienting and training others and assigning and reviewing their work. May also be responsible for acting in a lead or senior capacity over other positions performing essentially the same work or related technical tasks and reporting to a higher level on a formal basis.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Internal contacts are with faculty, staff, and students. External contacts are with alumni, community, Business Association and leaders, athletic association members and the public.
This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Recruit qualified student-athletes
Develop and train student-athletes within the guidelines of the program under the direction of the Head Football Coach
Conduct the football program in accordance with all NCAA rules, including attendance at compliance meetings, appropriate record keeping for recruiting and playing/practice seasons, monitoring eligibility of student-athletes in the program, successfully completing the annual NCAA Certification test, and assisting in the education of student-athletes about NCAA rules
Promotes and markets team and generates funds to supplement budget for the athletic program.
Break down opponent’s offensive, defensive, and/or special teams schemes,
Create detailed reports, complete daily office tasks, create and maintain practice plans and game plans, and create offensive/defensive/special teams playbooks and game books.
Breakdown of game films; assist with practice planning; work with the coordinators in the off-season to plan, create, and implement offensive/defensive/special teams philosophies for the football team
Break down each opponent’s offensive, defensive, and special teams game plan schemes
Maintain weekly, seasonal self-scout/quality control documents
Perform other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree
Experience coaching at the college level, high school level and/or equivalent professional experience
An understanding of the rules and policies of the NCAA
Ability to work with diverse individuals and promote an inclusive environment
