Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is seeking candidates for the position of
Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head
Men’s Basketball Coach in the management and administration of all phases of a varsity intercollegiate Men’s
Basketball program, within the guidelines, rules, and regulations of Belhaven University, the NCAA, and the CCS.
Belhaven University is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring seventeen sports programs and holding
conference membership in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will assist the head coach with the following:
Support the mission and core values of the Department, which are competing for championships and leading
athletes to mature as men and women created in the image of God; coordinate recruiting efforts to attract
individuals who have exhibited high potential to perform according to the standards of Belhaven Men’s
Basketball, the department, the conference, and NCAA; Reinforce spiritual growth, academic achievement, and
graduation as our top priorities; Comply with university, departmental, NCAA, and CCS regulations as it pertains to
recruiting, retaining, and developing student-athletes; Diligent, daily preparation to compete aggressively to win
championships; Coaching the team during scheduled practices and competitions; budget management, academic

with campus faculty, staff and external relationships with alumni and friends of the program, as well as other
duties assigned by supervisor.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution (Master’s Preferred);
Possess 2 or more years of coaching or playing experience at the college level or the equivalent; show the ability
to recruit, develop, and retain quality Men’s Basketball student-athletes; demonstrate excellent organizational
skill, attention to detail, intentional relationship building, and communication skills; the ability and willingness to
work effectively in a team atmosphere in the Men’s Basketball program and the athletic department.
