Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration or related field and two years related experience working with collegiate athletic program or equivalent combination of education and work experience. AEMA certification upon hire or obtain within one year of hire. Valid driver's license, must be insurable by University insurance carrier, employment physical, able to lift, carry and load equipment/boxes up to 25 lbs. required. Ability to travel and work nights, weekends and holidays required.

Position Description:

The Athletic Equipment Manager position reports to the Associate Director of Equipment Operations and supervises the overall equipment operation of assigned sport(s) programs. Responsible for the effective supervision of staff, budgeting, tracking of inventory, distribution, collection, maintenance, fitting, laundering and repair of athletic equipment and ensuring that all protective equipment meets the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOSCAE).

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise the overall equipment operation for assigned sport(s) program
• Consult with Head Coaches on Equipment Usage and requirements for assigned sports
• Oversee the budget and purchase of all assigned sports as approved by the Director of Athletics, Assistant Athletic Director of Finance, and the Director of Equipment Operations
• Maintain accurate and concise computerized inventory as well as performs monthly inventories for submission to the Director of Equipment Operations and Assistant Athletic Director of Finance
• Initiate and monitor all fiscal aspects of the job including but not limited to submitting all materials for purchasing and procurement of goods assisting in the oversight of the Adidas contract
• Adhering to University, ULAA, ACC and NCAA policies and procedures with special attention to licensing and logo use on all apparel
• Supervise assistant equipment managers and student managers for the issuance, maintenance, repair and laundering of all athletic equipment and apparel
• Oversee the travel operation of assigned sports in relation to equipment and apparel
• Travel with assigned sports to out of town competition sites as approved by the Director of Equipment Operations
• Ensure personnel supervised are informed of and adhere to established health and safety practices associated with assigned tasks
• Oversee receiving and dispersal of equipment
• Assist with any recruiting-related functions as it pertains to equipment and apparel with assigned sport(s)
• Serve as liaison to athletic grounds and facilities departments as it pertains to assigned areas and sports
• Ensure daily security of areas assigned; Ensure all Equipment areas are maintained in an orderly and safe manner
• Responsible for the issuance, maintenance, and reconditioning of practice and game equipment and apparel
• Responsible for the inspection of facilities, locker room areas, and grounds of which the assigned sport(s) participate
• Report needed repairs and recommends needed improvements of facilities to the Director of Equipment Operations
• Proficiency with inventory management system (e.g., ACS, Sportsoft)
• Maintain membership and certification with associated professional organization (AEMA)
• Maintain current knowledge of new innovations and technology related to athletic equipment
• Provide assistance as requested to Head Coaches of assigned sport(s) as approved by the Director for Equipment Operations
• Perform related duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Equipment Operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Work experience in NCAA Division I athletic program
• Experience with an inventory management system (e.g., ACS, Sportsoft)
• Master’s degree in related field
