Job Description

The Director of Landscape, Athletic and Support Operations oversees three (3) major departments (60 employees) that have a broad and significant impact on the university mission. Landscape Services provides leadership in the administration, organization, and integration of facility planning activities as they relate to improvement, renovation, replacement or construction of campus landscapes and associated elements.  In addition, the Director oversees the management and maintenance of the University Fleet and Capital Equipment, approximately 150 vehicles and $5 million in equipment. 

The Athletic Maintenance department is responsible for all maintenance and operations for a NCAA Division 1 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) athletics program encompassing 13 men’s and 15 women's sports/teams with an annual operating budget of $83 million. It is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and game staffing of 8 BC Athletics Facilities and numerous natural surface fields and other buildings. 

 

The Support Services & University Properties department is responsible for University Mail and Package Services, Warehouse Operations, select Capital Project Management and three University peripheral properties in Dover, Weston and Cohasset, MA  with operating and capital budgets totaling over $2.5M annually. 

A successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) with 10 years field experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or Civil Engineering and five years’ experience in landscape/horticultural design applications can substitute for the required Landscape degree. Additionally, at least 10 years field experience in landscape/horticultural design applications including design, project management, maintenance operations and/or planning preferably in a campus setting. 
This position is essential and requires the ability to periodically work outside under wide ranging weather conditions. The Director will frequently need to walk areas of all campuses and will respond to some campus emergencies.
