Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, the Director of Program Engagement will provide support and lead all external aspects of the women’s basketball program. The Director will oversee recruiting marketing communications, community service and engagement, the program’s social media platforms, fundraising and marketing events exclusive to women’s basketball, alumni relations, women’s basketball event logistics, and our program’s mentoring program. The Director will also oversee the program’s social media interns and communicate directly with the department’s marketing and fundraising teams along with community and off-campus liaisons. The incumbent is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Furman University, the Conference, and the NCAA. Furman University is a member of the NCAA at the Division I level.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This is NOT a coaching staff position
Duties align more with those with a marketing, event logistics, and public relations background
RECRUITING
Create and manage all recruiting outreach including mail-outs, recruiting social media campaigns, and
Design and create all digital recruiting communications in alignment with NCAA rules and regulations
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Develop a community outreach program for Women’s Basketball
Oversee the public service projects for Women’s Basketball
Make public appearances or speak at civic events within the community in the absence of the head women’s basketball coach
Reports all community service activities to proper personnel within the athletic department
MARKETING
Organizes and oversees all marketing and video appearances and functions involving Women’s Basketball student-athletes and coaches
Incumbent will serve as the liaison to the marketing department and will collaborate with them on projects that will heighten Women’s Basketball’s presence on campus and in the community
FUNDRAISING
Organizes all program fundraising initiatives and projects
Primary contact for our annual “Hoops and Heels” fundraising event
Oversees our “Circle of Distinction” Booster Club and ensures donors are getting their perks that align with their sponsorship level
Serves as a primary contact for the Women’s Basketball annual fundraising golf tournament
Liaison with our department’s development office to assistant with campus-wide fundraising initiatives such as Dins Day, Giving Tuesday, etc.
EVENT PLANNING AND LOGISTICS
Organizes all program events such as annual banquets, fundraising and community service events
Manages and oversees all expenses related to Women’s Basketball events
Serves as the direct contact for on and off campus event vendors
Works with our department assistant to reconcile all related event expenses
ALUMNAE RELATIONS
Organizes all alumnae engagement events and correspondence
Serves as the Women’s Basketball liaison with the University’s Alumni engagement department
MENTORING PROGRAM
· Oversees our program’s “Women of Distinction” mentoring program
· Organizes all meeting and events associated with our mentoring program
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
· Communicates the schedule for external events to staff and players
· Any other duties assigned by head coaches to facilitate fundraising, marketing, banquets, or community service
RELATIONSHIPS
Daily contact with members of athletic department, university staff, immediate supervisor, student-athletes, student interns and general public.
Daily contact with other departments, the general public, and community and program stakeholders.
EDUCATION/SKILL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in marketing, communications, public relations, or a similar field
Extensive experience in creative and design platforms such as Adobe Photoshop/InDesign, Canva and others
Experience with video creation and editing is preferred.
Extensive knowledge of all conference and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations and adhere to these policies as they pertain to the duties and responsibilities of the job.
Ability to work effectively with college student athletes, athletic staff, university personnel, Greenville community, donors, and alumni.
Ability to take initiative and the lead with projects under your job description with very little guidance
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Independent judgment is necessary to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload with attention to detail.
Time management skills and the ability to multitask are essential to successful performance of this position.
