Job Description

North Carolina Wesleyan University, a DIII liberal arts university located in Rocky Mount, NC, invites applications for the position of Director of Sports Communications.  This position is responsible for all aspects of media and sports information relating to NC Wesleyan University’s intercollegiate sports; promotes the athletic program to students, parents, alumni, faculty, and media.

The Director of Sports Communications will oversee game day management, and provide regular instruction and training for a variety of office and game support personnel. Updates and maintains participation records for athletes. This is a full-time, 12-month position, coordinating the internal and external communications of the athletics department. The Director of Sports Communications will report to NCWU’s Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous experience in a collegiate sports information office
  • Statistical software experience
  • Strong computer skills, including desktop publishing/graphic design familiarity (InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and manage projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
