General Summary
Reporting to the Vice President and Director of Athletics, the Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director for Golf oversees and advances the EMU golf programs. This position ensures the programs' overall success, manages day-to-day operations, and spearheads revenue-generation initiatives to support long-term sustainability.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Golf Program Oversight:
Act as a steward and liaison between EMU Golf and GameAbove EMU/Sports, and other key donor groups around all aspects of the golf program. This includes meetings and regular communication of updates and progress reports between the golf programs and various administrative departments.
Track academic progress and success of student-athletes
Assist Coaching staff with all incoming student-athletes with financial aid, housing, admissions, and orientation for all incoming student-athletes as well as completion of NCAA compliance logs to EMU Athletics/EMU and the Physical Plant, including helping to coordinate additions, construction and/or upgrades between EMU Athletics and Eagle Crest Golf Resort (EAS Board), ensuring partnership expectations are being met and/or exceeded.
Provide support to Head Coaches across all facets of program management, including recruitment, training, and competition preparation.
Supervise and evaluate coaches, regularly evaluate program resources and performance goals, conduct strategic planning, and manage student-athlete grievances and issues.
Work closely with coaches, performance coaches, sports medicine professionals, and mental health experts to address the unique training and development needs of golf student-athletes, ensuring their holistic well-being and performance enhancement.
Collaborate with Head Coaches in the development, enhancement, and implementation of program budgets, ensuring effective and optimal allocation of resources to support program objectives.
Assist coaches in managing logistic operations including, team travel arrangements, scheduling, equipment procurement and management, coordination of golf outings and tournaments, camp operations, and film and video analysis.
Serve as the primary point of contact for EMU Golf Alumni and collaborate with them to foster a strong sense of community, support, and involvement in program initiatives.
Hire and manage student and/or part-time staff as needed.
Provide regular progress reports to the Director of Athletics.
Sustainable Revenue Generation:
Oversee all aspects of revenue generation activities, with a primary focus on leveraging the GameAbove Golf Performance Center as a key revenue source.
Manage logistical needs related to revenue generation efforts, including staffing, membership management, software systems, and facility maintenance.
In close coordination with EMU Foundation staff, lead fundraising efforts for both golf programs, utilizing donor cultivation, alumni engagement, and corporate partnerships to secure financial support.
Proactively identify and facilitate Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for student-athletes, ensuring regulation compliance while maximizing earning potential and brand exposure.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required.
Three years or more experience in college athletics is required.
