Job Description

This position serves as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and will manage all operations and development of the program to include individual student-athletes and group/team training for Millikin Athletics

The position involves working directly with sport head coaches and athletic training staff to design and implement training programs to help optimize conditioning, injury prevention, and overall physical and mental wellness. It includes monitoring training sessions and tracking progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions).

  • Design and implement strength and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all varsity athletics programs in accordance with NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards guidelines.
  • Monitor and teach proper techniques for strength and conditioning.
  • Reduce the likelihood of sports-related injuries or aggravation of existing injuries during practice sessions and/or scheduled contests.
  • Meet Millikin, NCAA, and CCIW regulations and obligations, including operating budget and fiscal responsibilities.
  • Evaluate and prioritize weight room strength and cardio equipment needs.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate part-time, interns, and/or volunteer assistants as needed.
  • Organize the physical conditioning and development of injury prevention techniques, pre-season preparation of student-athletes, and post-season completion of program administrative duties.
